v2.c34.189
The view of the earlier Sánkhyas that atoms of different Bhútas may chemically combine to form molecules of compound substances as much as atoms of different modes of the same Bhúta comes out clearly in Utpala’s brief reference to the Sánkhya system in his commentary on Varáhamihira’s Vrihat Samhitá. (Utpala, Chap. 1, S'loka 7 ).
