The Navanátha Saktisára, a Marhattá work by Narahari Mála, gives some legendary information about this Charpatinátha and speaks of him as a contemporary of Matsyendranátha. On the left has been given the geneology of the pupils of मत्सेन्द्रनाथ. The last, ज्ञानदेव or ज्ञानेश्वर, was the celebrated Marhattá Saint and author of a commentary on the भगवद्गीता called ज्ञानेश्वरी.* It was written in Saka 1212, i.e., A. D. 1290. So मत्सेन्द्र and Charpatinátha must have lived at the beginning of the thirteenth century A. D.
