Innumerable small muskets or iron match-locks (*bundooks*) of the Mogul days can now be found in the museums in different parts of India and in the treasure houses of Indian princes and landlords. It is stated in the *Ayeen Akbari* (an important administrative record of the reign of Emperor Akbar) that excepting Rum (ancient Turkey) no kingdom could compare with the Indian Empire under the Moguls in the number and variety of its ordnance. It gives a description of the manufacture of *bundōōks* from wrought iron.
