Nālandā was represented by no less than 1000 pandits in the grand assembly convened by Śri Harṣa at Kānyakubja to investigate the treatise of the Master of the Law of China (Hiuen Tsiang),² This fact alone is enough to speak of the importance of the University and the pandits who had the honour to represent it.
