Perhaps, next to Diṅnāga when King Śila was ruling, Jayadeva had the distinction to occupy the ‘Pandita’ chair. Save Taranath,² nobody refers to this Jayadeva, not even Hiuen Tsiang and I-Tsing, who though give a host of names of the famous pandits of Nālandā.
