Śīlabhadra, who succeeded Dharmapāla to the post of the Pandita of the University, was not less famous a figure among the Nālandā pandits. The accounts that we have of him are vivid and most reliable because they are recorded by Hiuen Tsiang from his own personal knowledge and not from any hearsay.
