Kempers describes other specimens of Tārā found at Nālandā.³ Of these, the figure of Śyāma Tārā is worth noting. Of Bhṛkuṭi Tārā or Gaurī, Kempers says that "We may safely assume that the goddess was actually worshipped at Nālandā."⁴
