We have a very beautiful image of Viṣṇu, prepared in the reign of the Pāla King, Devapāladeva.⁴ “It is a deity standing between two attendants; a hand consisting of snake-head forms a canopy over his head; the attributes are : a small oblong object, a mace, a second mace or staff (!) and the discus. The *vanamālā* hangs down from the shoulders. Of the attendants the one on the proper right bears a vase, and the other a dish with fruits or something similar”.⁵
