(1) Kumāragupta I built a saṅghārāma by the side of a tank on a lucky spot (o.c., II, p. 168). This saṅghārāma very probably is M.1B² of “PE” as it is situated by the side of the lakes, and very nearly to their south. And the Stūpa No. 3, which lies between the lakes and the monastery, seems to be there even before the building was constructed by Kumāragupta I. According to the A. S. R., however, M. 1 appears to be the oldest.
