This brings us to Diṅnāga, the first systematic writer on Buddhist Logic, "the Father of Mediaeval Logic" as Dr. Vidyabhusana calls him.³ Of his contribution to this part of learning, we shall speak in the succeeding Chapters. For, according to one view, he lived at a time when the Nālandā University was already founded;⁴ and consequently his work must be viewed as of one of the pandits of Nālandā.
