His son Dharmapāladeva must have patronised the University in some manner or another. This conjecture is supported by a recent discovery of a copperplate at Nālandā.¹ But it is so hopelessly defaced that beyond the legend *Dharmapāladevaḥ* which is inscribed on a seal soldered at the top and engraved in one line below the *Dharmacakra* and the fact that it was issued from a royal camp nothing can be made out.
