The next reference to a Pāla King and Nālandā as well, is to be found in another of such manuscripts. Here we are told that *Aṣṭāsāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā* was copied out by one Grahaṇakuṇḍa in the fourth regnal year of Rāmapāla.³ The times, however, which Rāmapāla had to face, periods of alternate success and defeat, could have hardly enabled him to turn his attention towards Nālandā.
