The right-angled triangle *XYT* [Fig. 4(b)] has been used to fix the corner points *L*, *M*, *N*, and *K* of the required construction. The points *C*, *D*, *A* and *B* are fixed such that WC=ED=EA=WB=a/2 [Fig. 4(c) ]. *ABCD* gives the required square.
