**2.4-2.6.** Āpastamba's methods for making a square out of a combination or difference of two squares are exactly the same as those of Baudhāyana, discussed in *BŚl.* 2.1-2.2. The *sūtra* *ĀŚl.* 2.6 is an application of the combination of two squares, for instance a² + 3a² = 4a², where a is the measure or producer of the square.
