The commentators Dvārakānātha Yajvā and Sundararāja have described a general method as follows : *yāvadicchaṃ pārśvamānyau prācyau vardhayitvā uttarapūrvāṃ karṇarajjumāyacchet sā dīrgha caturaśramadhyasthāyāṃ samacaturaśra tiryaṅmānyāṃ yatra nipatati tata uttaraṃ hitvā dakṣiṇāṃsaṃ tiryaṅmānīṃ kuryāt taddīrghacaturaśraṃ bhavati/* This means: Having increased upto the desired length the two sides (*pārśvamānī*)
