**3.9-3.10.** The *paśubandha vedi* is in the form of an isosceles trapezium whose face equals 8 *padas*, base 10 *padas* and altitude 12 *padas*. Sometimes the *vedi* is measured by *akṣa*, *īṣā* and *yuga* units of a chariot. The *uttara vedi* according to Baudhāyana is a square pit of side 10 *padas*.
