The second act of the play is specially significant as it presents a scene of debate between the disciple and the followers of rival systems, including the Advaitavādins also. The Śiṣya who symbolizes *vāda* (debate) itself, reportedly engages in verbal dual not only with the followers of non-Vedic systems, he also counters and argues against the followers of Sāṁkhya, Vaiśeṣika, Pāśupata, Pāñcarātra and Bhāṭṭa-Mīmāṁsā systems.
