He is enjoined not to disregard earthly well-being in his pursuit of beatitude; but, on the other hand, only insofar as he is able to effect union with the transcendent essence inhabiting his own nature and the universe, will he be able to insure for himself the health and well-being that are proof against every assault from the malignant host of diseases and evil passions threatening him with ruin.
