The explicit description of what is going on is indispensable for securing the desired effect, and it is essential that it be couched in Sanskrit, the traditional language of priestcraft, the holy language of the gods and the vehicle of truth. Without the knowledge of the magical and descriptive stanzas, and without the careful recital, the proper traditional intonation of them, the effort would be considered vain, and as useless as the uttering of the stanzas without the proper performance of the corresponding rites.
