10.40

madhyamaṃ, yathā-
citraṃ dhaniṣṭhe tanu-vāsaso'pi
cīnasya pīna-stani saṅgamena |
lipteva te lohita-candanena
mūrtir bindunā sakhi lohitāsīt //

The middling, as in:
"It is a wonder, O Dhaniṣṭhā, O full-breasted girl, that merely by contact
with a fine dress of Chinese silk,
your form became stained with drops of red,
O friend, as though smeared with red sandalwood!"
