11.53

tatra garveṇa, yathā-
priyokti-lakṣeṇa vipakṣa-sannidhau
svīkāritāṃ paśya śikhaṇḍa-maulinā |
śyāmātivāmā hṛdayaṅgamām api
srajaṃ darāghrāya nirāsa helayā //

There, through pride, as in:
Look! Though made to accept it in the presence of her rival
by the peacock-feather-crested one with a hundred thousand flattering words,
the dark and exceedingly obstinate girl, having merely smelled that garland,
though dear to her heart, tossed it aside in disdain.
