viśadabuddhir anena suvartmanā sukaraduṣkaramārgam evaiti hi /
na hi tadanyanaye 'pi kṛtaśramaḥ prabhur imaṃ nayam etum idaṃ vinā //
A person of clear intellect attains the easy and difficult paths of poetry through this good way; / for one who has exerted effort even in other doctrines is not able to attain this principle without this.
