tatra dhīrodāttānukūlo, yathā-
sītāṃ hitvā daśamukha-ripur nopayeme yad anyāṃ
tasyā eva pratikṛti-sakho yat kratūnājahāra |
vṛttāntena śravaṇa-viṣaya-prāpiṇā tena bhartuḥ
sā durvāraṃ katham api parityāga-duḥkhaṃ viṣehe ||
Among them, the dhīrodātta-anukūla, for example:
That the enemy of the ten-faced [Rāvaṇa], having abandoned Sītā, did not marry another, / [and] that he performed sacrifices with her very image as companion— / by that news reaching the range of her hearing, / she somehow endured the unbearable sorrow of abandonment by her husband.
