atretarasyāṃ paśyantyām api sambhāvanārhatayā pihita-locanāyā jyeṣṭhatvam | tatra samakṣaṃ sambhāvanānarhatvāt cumbitāyāḥ kanīyastvam | evam itarad-udāhāryam |

Here, even though the other woman was watching, the one whose eyes were closed has the status of the senior (jyeṣṭhā) because she was worthy of outward honor. Because she was not worthy of outward honor in the other's presence, the one who was kissed has the status of the junior (kanīyasī). Other instances should be illustrated in this manner.
