garvād, yathā-
puṃsānunītā śata-sāma-vādair
garvān nirīheva cucumba kācit |
arthānabhīṣṭān api vāma-śīlāḥ
striyaḥ parārthān iva kalpayanti ||
Out of pride, as in:
Entreated by the man with a hundred conciliatory words,
one woman kissed him out of pride as though without desire;
women of contrary nature treat even desired objects
as if they were meant for another's sake.
