so' haṃ kalyāṇa-rūpasya varṇotkarṣaika-kāraṇam |
vidvat-prasādanā-hetor vakṣye nāṭyasya lakṣaṇam ||
Therefore I, in order to please the learned, / shall state the theoretical definition of dramaturgy, / which is the single cause for the pre-eminence of the fine arts of auspicious form.
