sādhvasena, yathā-
śrutvā duḥśravam adbhutaṃ ca mithilā-vṛttāntam antaḥ-patac-
cintāpahnava-sāvahittha-vadana-tvag-viprakīrṇa-smitaḥ |
helākṛṣṭa-surāvarodha-ramaṇī-sīmanta-santānaka-
srag-vāsojjvala-pāṇir apy avati māṃ vatso na laṅkeśvaraḥ ||

Through dread, as in:
Having heard the terrible and astonishing news of Mithilā, my son the Lord of Laṅkā,
with a smile scattered over his face by dissimulation that conceals his deep-seated anxiety,
even with his hand brightened by garments and garlands of Santānaka flowers from the partings of the celestial harem women effortlessly abducted by him,
does not protect me!
