yathā tatraiva [bāla-rāmāyaṇe] ṣaṣṭhāṅke [6.4 padyād anantaram] mālyavān (smṛti-nāṭikena)-na jāne kiṃ hi vṛttaṃ kaikeyī-daśarathayoḥ |
As in that very work [Bālarāmāyaṇa], in the sixth act [after verse 6.4], Mālyavān (acting remembrance): 'I do not know what happened between Kaikeyī and Daśaratha.'
3.108.p3
(upasarpitakena) māyamayaḥ-jayatv āryaḥ |
(Approaching) Māyāmaya: 'May the noble one conquer!'
3.108.p4
śūrpaṇakhā-jedu jedu kaṇiṭṭhamādām aho | [jayatu jayatu kaniṣṭha-mātāmahaḥ |]
Śūrpaṇakhā: 'May the younger maternal grandfather conquer, conquer!'
3.108.p5
mālyavān-atha kiṃ vṛttaṃ tatra ?
Mālyavān: 'Well, what happened there?'
3.108.p6
māyamayaḥ-yathādiṣṭam āryeṇa | ity upakramya |
Māyāmaya: 'Just as the noble one commanded.' Beginning with this,
3.108.p7
mālyavān (saharṣam)-tarhi vistarataḥ kathyatām |
Mālyavān (with joy): 'Then tell it at length.'
3.108.p8
ity antena mālyavac cintā-samakālam eva śūrpaṇakhā-māyāmayayor upagamanād vā mālyavato vilambāsahābhiprāya-parijñānavatā māyāmayena niṣpannasya kāryasya saṅkṣepa-kathanād vā kramaḥ |
Ending with this, this is krama, either because of the arrival of Śūrpaṇakhā and Māyāmaya at the very moment of Mālyavān's thought, or because of Māyāmaya's concise narration of the accomplished task, understanding Mālyavān's intention that brooks no delay.
