(Entering with a clay peacock in her hand) Female Ascetic: "Sarvadamana! Look at the beauty of the bird (śakunta-lāvaṇyam)!"

Child (casting his gaze about): "Where is my mother?"
3.233.p4
ubhe-ṇāma-sārisseṇa baṃcido māubacchalo | [nāma-sādṛśyena vañcito mātṛ-vatsalaḥ |]
Both: "The mother-loving child was deceived by the resemblance of the name!"
3.233.p5
dvitīyā-baccha, imassa mittiā-morassa raṃmattaṇaṃ dekkha tti bhaṇido' si | [vatsa, asya mṛttikā-mayūrasya ramyatvaṃ paśyeti bhaṇito' si |]
Second: "Child, you were told: 'Behold the loveliness of this clay peacock.'"
3.233.p6
rājā (ātma-gatam)-kiṃ vā śakuntalety asya mātur ākhyā | ity antam | atra śakunta-lāvaṇyam ity atra śakuntalā-nāmākṣarāṇāṃ pratibhānād ayam akṣara-saṅghātaḥ |
The King (to himself): "Could Śakuntalā be the name of his mother?" At this conclusion: here, because the syllables of the name Śakuntalā are flashed forth in the phrase "beauty of the bird" (śakunta-lāvaṇyam), this is combination of syllables (akṣarasaṅghāta).
