Behind the scenes— / The bow of Pārvatī's beloved, the guru in subduing the unruly pride of Kandarpā, / who surrendered his hand to the rod of Time belonging to Brahmā, whose moon was trembled by the Gaṅgā— / that bow, which filled the sky with the fierce sound of its bowstring, whose middle was curved by drawing, / which broke: the sound of it, heard spreading through the world, does not fit within it.

Here, since the story of Rāmabhadra—beginning with the slaying of Tāṭakā and ending with granting protection to Vibhīṣaṇa—which is unsuitable for performance because of its vast extent, is indicated by the plays of words delivered alternately by Karpūracaṇḍa who has entered [the stage] and Candanacaṇḍa who remains behind the curtain, this is a broken offstage announcement (khaṇḍacūlikā).
