yathā tatraiva prahasane (ānanda-kośa-nāmani) bauddhaḥ (yatiṃ vilokya)-kuto maṇḍa eka-daṇḍī |
As in that very prahasana (named Ānandakośa), the Buddhist (looking at the ascetic): "From where does this shaven-headed single-staffed ascetic come?"
3.487.p3
mithyā-tīrthaḥ (vilokya dṛṣṭim apakarṣan ātma-gatam)-kṣaṇikavādī na sambhāṣaṇīya eva | tathāpi daṇḍam antardhāya niruttaraṃ karomi | (prakāśam) aye śūnya-vādin ! adaṇḍaḥ amuṇḍo' ham āgalād asmi |
Mithyātīrtha (looking, averting his gaze, to himself): "A proponent of momentariness should not even be spoken to. Even so, concealing my staff, I shall render him speechless. (Openly) Hey, advocate of the void! I am without a staff and unshaven up to my neck!"
3.487.p4
jainaḥ (ātma-gatam)-nūnam asau māyāvādī | bhavatu | aham api kim apy antardhāya prastutaṃ pṛcchāmi | (prakāśam) aye mahā-pariṇāma-vādin ! bṛhad-bīja lomnāṃ samāna-jātīyatve' pi keṣāñcit saṅkartanam anyeṣāṃ saṃrakṣaṇam iti vyavasthitau kiṃ pramāṇam ?
The Jain (to himself): "Surely he is an illusionist! Be it so. I too, concealing something, shall ask about what is at hand. (Openly) Hey, proponent of universal transformation! You with large testicles, what is the authority for the rule that, although hairs are of the same class, some are sheared off while others are kept?"
3.487.p5
mithyā-tīrthaḥ-jīvad amedhyaṃ jaṅgama-narako nara-piśāco' yam antardhāyāpi na sambhāṣaṇīyaḥ |
Mithyātīrtha: "This living impurity, a wandering hell, a human fiend, should not be spoken to even when [something is] concealed."
3.487.p6
niṣkaccha-kīrtiḥ (sādaram)-sakhe ! ārhata-mune vāde tvayā ayam apratipattiṃ nāma nigraha-sthānam āropito māyāvādī |
Niṣkacchakīrti (respectfully): "Friend, Jain sage! In debate you have brought this illusionist to a point of defeat known as incomprehension!"
3.487.p7
mithyā-tīrthaḥ (ātma-gatam)-nūnam imāv api mādṛśāv eva liṅga-dhāraṇa-mātreṇa kukṣimbharaī syātām | (iti pippala-mūla-vedikāyāṃ niṣīdati |)
Mithyātīrtha (to himself): "Surely these two also are just like me, mere belly-fillers by the simple wearing of religious marks." (So saying, he sits down on the platform at the base of the sacred fig tree.)
3.487.p8
ity atra yati-bauddha-jainānāṃ saṃvādo vyavahāraḥ |
Here, in this passage, the dialogue of the ascetic, the Buddhist, and the Jain is vyavahāra.
