6.1
saṃdhyāyāṃ hima dīdhiti horā pāpair bha anta gatair nidhanāya/
raty ekaṃ śaśi pāpa sametaiḥ kendrair vā sa vināśam upaite//(Vidyunmālā)
At twilight, the horā of the Moon, with malefics situated at the ends of signs, causes death;
or when the cardinal houses are occupied by the Moon conjoined with a single malefic, [the child] meets with destruction.
6.2
cakrasya pūrva apara bhāgageṣu krūreṣu saumyeṣu ca kīṭa lagne/
kṣipraṃ vināśaṃ samupaiti jātaḥ papair vilagna astamaya abhitaś ca//(indravajrā)
When malefics and benefics are situated in the eastern and western halves of the zodiac, and Scorpio is the ascendant,
the newborn quickly meets with destruction, as also when malefics surround the ascendant and the setting sign.
6.3
pāpāv udaya asta gatau krūreṇa yutaś ca śaśī/
dṛṣṭaś ca śubhair na yadā mṛtyuś ca bhaved acirāt//(anuṣṭubh)
When two malefics occupy the ascendant and the seventh house, and the Moon is conjoined with a malefic
and not aspected by benefics, death occurs without delay.
6.4
kṣīṇe himagau vyayagau pāpair udaya aṣṭamagaiḥ/
kendreṣu śubhāś ca na cet kṣipraṃ nidhanaṃ pravadet//(anuṣṭubh)
When the waning Moon is in the twelfth house, malefics are in the ascendant and eighth house,
and benefics are not in cardinal houses, one should declare prompt destruction.
6.5
krūreṇa saṃyutaḥ śaśī smara antya mṛtyu lagnagaḥ/
kaṇṭakād bahiḥ śubhair avīkṣitaś ca mṛtyudaḥ//(anuṣṭubh)
The Moon, conjoined with a malefic and situated in the seventh, twelfth, eighth, or first house,
when benefics are outside the cardinal houses and do not aspect it, brings about death.
6.6
śaśiny ari vināśage nidhanam āśu pāpa īkṣite śubhair atha sama aṣṭaka dalam ataś ca miśraiḥ sthitiḥ/
asadbhir avalokite balibhir atra māsaṃ śubhe kalatra sahite ca pāpa vijite vilagna adhipe//(pṛthvī)
When the Moon is in the sixth or eighth house and aspected by malefics, death is quick; but if aspected by benefics, it is in eight years, and with mixed [aspects], half of that;
if aspected by powerful malefics, [death occurs] within a month here; and when a benefic is in the seventh house and the lord of the ascendant is defeated by a malefic [the same applies].
6.7
lagne kṣīṇe śaśini nidhanaṃ randhra kendreṣu pāpaiḥ pāpa antasthe nidhana hibuka dyūna saṃsthe ca candre//
evaṃ lagne bhavati madana cchidra saṃsthaiś ca pāpair mātrā sārddhaṃ yadi na ca śubhair vīkṣitaḥ śakti bhṛdbhiḥ//(maṃ krā)
When the Moon is waning in the ascendant, death [occurs] through malefics in the eighth and cardinal houses; and when the Moon is situated between malefics and positioned in the eighth, fourth, or seventh house;
likewise, when [the Moon] is in the ascendant and malefics are situated in the seventh and eighth houses, [death occurs] along with the mother, if it is not aspected by benefics endowed with strength.
6.8
rāśy antage sadbhir avīkṣyamāṇe candre tri koṇa upagataiś ca pāpaiḥ/
prāṇaiḥ prayāty āśu śiśur viyogam aste ca pāpais tuhina aṃśu lagne//(indravajrā)
When the Moon has gone to the end of a sign and is not aspected by benefics, and malefics are in the trines,
the child quickly departs from life; and [likewise] when malefics are in the setting [house] and the Moon is in the ascendant.
6.9
aśubha sahite graste candre kuje nidhana āśrite janani sutayor mṛtyur lagne ravau tu sa śastrajaḥ/
udayati ravau śīta aṃśau vā tri koṇa vināśagair nidhanam aśubhair vīrya upetaiḥ śubhair na yuta īkṣite//(hariṇī)
When the eclipsed Moon is accompanied by a malefic and Mars is situated in the eighth house, death [occurs] for both mother and child; but if the Sun is in the ascendant, it is caused by a weapon;
when the Sun or the cold-rayed [Moon] rises and malefics endowed with strength are in the trines or the eighth, death [occurs] if they are not joined or aspected by benefics.
6.10
asita ravi śaśa aṅka bhūmijair vyaya navama udaya naidhana āśritaiḥ/
bhavati maraṇam āśu dehināṃ yadi balinā guruṇā na vīkṣitāḥ//(aparavakra)
When Saturn, the Sun, the Moon, and Mars reside in the twelfth, ninth, ascendant, and eighth houses,
death of embodied beings occurs quickly, if they are not aspected by a powerful Jupiter.
6.11
suta madana nava antya lagna randhreṣv aśubha yuto maraṇāya śīta raśmiḥ/
bhṛgu suta śaśi putra deva pūjyair yadi balibhir na yuto avalokito vā//(puṣpita agrā)
When accompanied by a malefic in the fifth, seventh, ninth, twelfth, ascendant, or eighth house, the cold-rayed [Moon] brings death,
if it is not conjoined or aspected by powerful Venus, Mercury, or Jupiter.
6.12
yoge sthānaṃ gatavati balinaś candre svaṃ vā tanu gṛham atha vā/
pāpair dṛṣṭe balavati maraṇaṃ varṣasya antaḥ kila muni gaditam//(bhramara vilasitā)E6
When the Moon, having reached the place of a combination or its own house or the ascendant, is strong
and aspected by powerful malefics, death within a year is indeed declared by the sages.
