digbala aura sthānabala
lagne jīvabudhau divākarakujau vayomni smare bhāskoṇe svabhe |
rbandhāvindusitau diśākṛtamidaṃ svocce svakoṇe svabhe |
mitrasvāṃśakasaṃsthitaḥ śubhaphalairdṛṣṭo balīyāngrahaḥ
strokṣetre śaśibhārgavau naragṛhe śeṣā bale sthānaje ||

Directional strength and positional strength:
Jupiter and Mercury in the ascendant, the Sun and Mars in the zenith, Saturn in the seventh house, and the Moon and Venus in the fourth house possess this directional strength. / In its own exaltation, in its own trine, in its own sign, situated in the division of a friend or of itself, aspected by benefics, a planet is strong; / the Moon and Venus in a female sign, and the rest in a male sign, possess positional strength.
