「拘那含佛父名大德，婆羅門種，母名善勝，是時王名清淨，隨王名故城名清淨。」佛時頌曰：
“The Buddha Kanakamuni’s father was named *Mahādatta, and he was from the priestly clan. His mother’s name was *Sūttara, and at the time the king was named *Śubha. His capitol was named *Śubhavatī after the king.”
The Buddha then spoke in verse:
