The Long Āgama Sūtra 15.9

15.9

佛告梵志：「彼善宿所言，知汝不受耳。昔我一時在毗舍離獼猴池側集法堂上，時，此善宿來至我所，語我言：『如來外我，我不於如來所修梵行也。』我時告曰：『汝何故言：我不於如來所修梵行，如來外我耶？』善宿報我言：『如來不為我現神足變化。』

The Buddha told the wanderer, “I knew you wouldn’t accept what Sunakṣatra says. Once when I was staying near Monkey Lake of Vaiśālī, there was a meeting in the Dharma hall. This Sunakṣatra came to me and said, ‘The Tathāgata is estranged from me. I won’t practice the religious life under Gautama.’

“I asked him, ‘Why do you say, “I won’t practice the religious life under the Tathāgata because the he is estranged from me”?’

“Sunakṣatra replied to me, ‘The Tathāgata hasn’t demonstrated miraculous abilities or miracles for me.’
