While the mahāsūtras as a group, at least in recent times, do not appear to have been especially well known or much used in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, On Entering the City of Vaiśālī is probably the best known and most used among them. Recited on its own,²⁷ or as part of several widely used collections of dhāraṇī, it is still seen as a powerful protection against epidemics and sickness in general.
