1.21

At that time, Mañjuśrī said to Maitreya Bodhisattva Mahāsattva and all the great beings: 'Good men! According to my reflection, the Buddha, the Bhagavat, now wishes to preach the great Dharma, to pour down the great Dharma rain, to blow the great Dharma conch, to strike the great Dharma drum, and to set forth the meaning of the great Dharma. Good men! In the past, among former Buddhas, I have seen this auspicious sign: having emitted this light, they straightway preached the great Dharma. Therefore you should know that the light now displayed by the Buddha is also like this; wishing to cause sentient beings all to hear and understand the Dharma that is difficult for all the world to believe, he displays this auspicious sign.
