'Next, there was another Buddha also named Candrasūryapradīpa, and next another Buddha also named Candrasūryapradīpa; in this way there were twenty thousand Buddhas, all of the same name, called Candrasūryapradīpa, and of the same clan name, the Bhāradvāja clan. Maitreya, you should know that from the first Buddha to the last, all had the same name, Candrasūryapradīpa, and were endowed with the ten titles. The Dharma they preached was good in the beginning, middle, and end. Before the last Buddha left home, he had eight princely sons: the first was named Mati, the second Sumati, the third Anantamati, the fourth Ratnamati, the fifth Viśeṣamati, the sixth Vimatisamudghātī, the seventh Ghoṣamati, and the eighth Dharmamati. These eight princes possessed majestic virtue and sovereignty, each ruling over four continents. When these princes heard that their father had left home and attained anuttarā samyaksambodhi, they all abandoned their royal positions, also left home in following him, generated the aspiration for the Mahāyāna, constantly cultivated brahma-conduct, and all became dharmabhāṇakas, having already planted roots of goodness under thousands of myriads of Buddhas.
