經曰：汝等比丘！於我滅後，當尊重珍敬波羅提木叉，如闇遇明貧人得寶。當知此則是汝大師，若我住世，無異此也。
The sūtra says: "You bhikṣus! After my extinction, you must respect, value, and honor the prātimokṣa, as if coming upon light in darkness, or as a poor person obtaining treasure. You should know that this is your great śāstṛ; if I were to abide in the world, it would be no different from this."
