"'This is the great mudrā of all Buddhas, saviours of the world;
In this mudrā abides
The samaya of the Truly Enlightened Ones.'"
If one knows the heart to be the abode / Of secret mantras, one will obtain the fruit. / Whatever white, yellow, or red / The intellect reflects upon, / That which definitively determines it / Is the action of the mind. / When the mind is pleased and becomes resolute, / That is explained as the heart. / The secret mantras abiding therein / Will generously grant the fruit. / Visualizing an eight-petaled lotus there, / Complete with filaments, / The syllable A, dense with garlands of flame, / Which is auspicious and abides therein, / Is peaceful and moves everywhere. / The Lord possesses various forms, / Like flashes of thousands of lightning bolts; / Displaying an appearance everywhere, / Like residing in the depths of a mirror, / Or like the form of the moon in water, / He abides in front everywhere. / The mantrin, abiding in the abode of secret mantra, / Having thus understood the mind, / Then, in emptiness, the mantrin / Should visualize the syllable A / Marked with an anusvāra / In the center of the brain's fullness. / Seeing that stainless, pure [form], / Which is like crystal, the moon, or snow, / The peaceful dharmakāya nature / Is called the basis of everything. / From it, the secret mantra siddhis / Of various forms will be attained. / If one sees the Tathāgata's abode, / One will attain heaven and liberation. / Having placed the syllable RA, / Blazing like a lamp, in the eyes, / With the neck bent slightly forward, / And the tongue pressed to the palate, / Looking into the center of the heart, / One should look at the mind in meditative absorption. / Immaculate and utterly pure, / It constantly abides like a mirror. / That very thing has been correctly taught / As the mind by the past Conquerors. / On the path illuminated by the mind, / Consciousness will become apparent. / Then the mantrin will see the complete Buddha, / The supreme among two-legged beings. / Having seen that, the mantrin / Will constantly attain siddhis. / Then, having shifted upward, / The contemplation of the syllable: / The syllable LA with an anusvāra
