"Recite the spell seven times; tie four knots in yellow thread and tie it around the neck. The verses of this dhāraṇī were spoken by Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges. If there are those who write down, read, and recite this dhāraṇī, all the grave evils and extremely heavy retributive obstacles of these persons from kalpas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, as well as the sins of the five heinous crimes and the icchantika, will be extinguished without remainder; and for other sentient beings, all their grave sins, path-obstructing sinful defilements, and karmic defilements, upon hearing what is spoken, will be extinguished without remainder. As for those who write down, read, and recite it, wherever they go—in states, cities, settlements, mountains, forests, hills, or graves—if the sentient beings therein hear the name of this dhāraṇī pass through their ears but once, then after their lives end they will all attain rebirth in the realm of Akṣobhya Buddha and, until they achieve buddhahood, will not fall into the three bad destinies. To practice this spell method: on the sixteenth day of the fourth month, inside a stupa facing east, circumambulate the stupa eighty times in one day; stand facing east beneath the western wall of the stupa, and recite the spell twenty-four times, up to seven days and seven nights without sleeping. One must place seven sesame-oil lamps at the four corners, bathe purely and put on fresh, clean clothes, and abstain from alcohol, meat, and the five pungent roots. For one day and one night, I will at that time appear before that person, emitting great illumination, and with a golden hand will rub the crown of their head and immediately confer prophecy upon them; all the karmic obstacles, sins, and defilements of this person will be extinguished without remainder."
