Dṛḍhavīrya Bodhisattva further wished to expound: "The wondrous practices of a bodhisattva have four matters. What are the four? First, may I constantly be born in worlds without buddhas, like the sun and moon moving through Jambudvīpa to dispel its darkness; second, like using a golden lancet to lance the cataracts of their eyes and let them behold the light; third, becoming a great medicinal tree, so that all sentient beings who smell its fragrance will have their illness and suffering eradicated; fourth, constantly expounding the Dharma like pouring down the rain of Dharma, so that sprouts and shoots grow and mature into fruit, all generating the mind of unexcelled awakening. Such are the four great vows of a bodhisattva."
