Now that I speak these dhāraṇī phrases, all the sins, defilements, disasters, evils, and severe illnesses of all sentient beings within the great trichiliocosm will, through my Dharma voice vibrating across the trichiliocosm and dispersing into all the pores and the six sense faculties of sentient beings, have their present painful illnesses, oppressive and steaming toxic vapors, as well as past karmic vexations and distressing heats, completely eradicated without remainder. Furthermore, if practitioners grow weary of and detached from the three realms, wishing to seek the essential escape but are unable to attain it, I will devise immeasurable skillful means for them so that what they seek will each be accomplished. If their state has neighboring enemies wishing to invade and oppress it, I will rescue it and enable it to escape distress. At that time the king of the state should feel shame and remorse, repent his faults and blame himself, offer apologies to the myriad people, cleanse and bathe himself, put on fresh, clean clothes, and on a high tower or within the palace, burn incense, scatter flowers, and pay homage to the Buddhas of the ten directions. At that time he should invoke my name three times: 'Trāṇamukta Bodhisattva, I now take refuge.' Say this three times. At that time he should immediately recite this dhāraṇī three sevens—twenty-one times. In whatever direction the bandits come, there will then be spirits and deities of the eight classes who will rain down sand, gravel, and stones, unleash great black winds, and cause lightning to crack and thunder to crash as if the heavens were collapsing, shaking heaven and earth, and the hostile bandits will naturally retreat and disperse. Such is the spiritual power of me, Trāṇamukta Bodhisattva, in rescuing sentient beings.
