This is called the Wondrous Sound of the Sea of Differentiated Dharma-nature. This great dhāraṇī-mantra was spoken by past buddhas equal in number to the sands of ten Gaṅgā rivers. This mantra can shake a small chiliocosm entirely. Through the majestic spiritual power of this great dhāraṇī-mantra, the afflictions of the three poisons and the habitual defilements of toil in the sentient beings therein will naturally surge forth [and be expelled]; the light of the Dharma sound will enter through their pores, and the steaming heat will naturally become cool. Sentient beings within the small chiliocosm who hear the wondrous, harmonious, and gentle sound of this dhāraṇī will include some who attain the patience of following sound, some who attain compliant patience, some who attain the great patience of unarisen dharmas, some who become capable of dwelling long to deliver sentient beings, some who attain the ocean of ultimate Dharma-nature and the four unhindered eloquence, and some who attain the great dhāraṇī and sovereign supernormal powers, constantly traveling through various lands to expound the essentials of the Dharma for sentient beings with wondrous sounds. All these matters can be accomplished through the majestic spiritual power of this great dhāraṇī-mantra.
