The Bodhisattva Trāṇamukta also delights to speak of four universal vows not shared with śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas. What are the four? First, may my mind be like the great earth, through which all grasses, trees, thickets, and sprouts grow, while the earth harbors neither hatred nor favoritism; second, may my mind be like a bridge or boat, conveying sentient beings across without weariness; third, may my mind be like the great ocean, accommodating all, into which the hundred rivers and streams flow without overflowing; fourth, may my body be like empty space, containing myriad things just like the Dharma-nature. These are the bodhisattva's four great universal vows, not shared with śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas.
