Dhāraṇī Spoken by Avalokiteśvara for Eradicating All Sins and Transgressions and Obtaining All That Is Wished
7.18
Within one month, abandon all worldly engagements; at the time when the morning star appears, recite it one hundred and twenty times daily, always seeking three things: first, to repent of one's sinful karma since beginningless time; second, to share whatever merit has been cultivated with all sentient beings; third, to constantly vow that the bodhisattvas of the ten directions who have not yet attained true awakening will quickly attain it, and that if they have already attained the Path and wish to enter nirvāṇa, they will remain long in the world. At all times, make mental offerings to all buddhas and bodhisattvas. Furthermore, pay special homage to Āryagarbha (Āryakṣitigarbha) Bodhisattva: wherever you may be, establish your mind to contemplate him; whatever wish you desire, if a severe illness cannot be cured by medicine, you will immediately obtain it as you wish; if you desire to repent, your sins will be eradicated; if you have severe sins, you will immediately obtain the expedient means to eradicate them. Moreover, whatever your heart desires to contemplate, you will immediately obtain the expedient means. If you dream, there will be the robes and appearance of a śramaṇa, manifesting according to what is appropriate to show expedient means. If there are worldly affairs you intend to undertake but you do not know the expedient means, according to your wishes you will be able to obtain the expedient means. If you can practice in this way, you will be able to advance your strength according to your wish among the six perfections and tentatively verify the fruits of the Path. As for this dhāraṇī, if one can maintain purity of body and mind for one month, abandon all entangling conditions, there will be no futile practice; practice will surely bring attainment. If a person for an entire kalpa were to recite the names of other bodhisattvas, it would not equal reciting the name of this bodhisattva and making offerings for a single period, which eradicates all sins and transgressions and obtains all that is wished.
7.19
Dhāraṇī for Removing Obstacles, Eradicating Diseases, up to Attaining the Fruits of the Path
7.21
For the practice: on the eighth day of the month, purify oneself by bathing, put on fresh, clean clothes, purify one's mind within, and before a buddha image or relics, for seven days and seven nights single-mindedly mind the Buddha and recite the mantra one thousand times, not thinking of any evil dharmas of the world. Using cotton thread, tie one hundred and eight knots; using it tied as a knot, when traveling among crowds, evil people will not see one's form, and while sleeping there will be no bad dreams. Single-mindedly minding the Buddha, one will attain the forbearance of non-arising dharmas, will definitely attain the unsurpassed fruit of the Path, be revered by all humans and devas, be guarded and protected by the Four Great Heavenly Kings, eradicate the karma of all three obstacles, see in sleep the buddhas and bodhisattvas of the ten directions, hear all dharmas never heard before, be free from the four hundred and four diseases, be able to cure all afflictions and sufferings of sentient beings, and bestow all happiness upon sentient beings.
7.22
Dhāraṇī for Attaining the Dhyāna-samādhis and All Buddha-Dharma Gateways
7.24
To practice the rite of this dhāraṇī: for seven days before a buddha image or relics, recite it one thousand times, and drink the nectar of dark honey and lotus garland. In a single day one will be able to recite a thousand verses and attain knowledge of others' minds. If any of the four assemblies, in a quiet place, single-mindedly and according to the rite practices this dhāraṇī, within no more than seven days they will attain the four dhyānas, destroy the defilements of the desire realm, attain the samādhi of the ten directions' buddhas' wish-fulfilling realization, be able to eliminate the karma of the three obstacles of sentient beings, scorch all defilements, perversions, and fetters of sentient beings, dwell close to the path of the noble and wise, cause non-retrogression from bodhi, attain omniscient knowledge without depending on other causes, and attain all buddhas' three unobstructed, three fearlessness samādhi Dharma gateways, capable of removing all evils of sentient beings.
7.25
Dhāraṇī for Seeing All Buddhas and Following the Heart's Wishes
7.27
When the Buddha preached this dhāraṇī, the great trichiliocosm quaked in six ways; devas performed celestial music in the sky and rained down various fragrant flowers and rare jewels, making offerings to the Buddha, the bodhisattvas, and the great assembly. At that time, ninety-nine koṭis of nayutas of devas and humans gave rise to the aspiration for bodhi. If good men and good women, whether monastic or lay, who give rise to the aspiration for bodhi transcribe, read, and recite this dhāraṇī, the buddhas of the ten directions will immediately see these persons, hear them reading and reciting, making vows and dedicating [merit], and seeing these persons from afar will give rise to joy, immediately conferring vyākaraṇa upon them that they will definitely become buddhas. If any of the four assemblies, in order to seek the Buddha Path, purify their minds, bathe, put on fresh, clean clothes, spread various clean seats, and in an araṇya separate themselves from bustling crowds, free from the mind stained by greed, anger, and defilements, and free from pride and jealousy, exclusively and correctly mind the buddhas of the ten directions as though right before their eyes. At the three times of day and night they repent of all sins and read and recite this dhāraṇī; within seven days, with pure mind and concentrated will, they will see the buddhas of the ten directions. If they cannot see them, then for another two or three periods of seven days, focusing their minds without stopping, immeasurable buddhas will appear before them and preach the Dharma for them, conferring upon them vyākaraṇa that they will become buddhas, and all obscuring karma will be completely eradicated. If they have committed the five heinous sins, violated the grave [precepts], or fundamentally slandered the True Dharma, they will not see the buddhas in person; yet if seen in dreams, they will also eradicate immeasurable sins. If they further exert diligent vigor for another three periods of seven days, they will surely be made to see all buddhas. This dhāraṇī follows the intention of the four assemblies: if they are diligent and practice according to the rite, what they wish will follow their hearts.
7.28
Dhāraṇī for Cultivating the Samādhi of Buddha-Mindfulness
7.30
For the practice: in the second, third, or eighth month, begin cultivating the samādhi of buddha-mindfulness during the śuklapakṣa. From the eighth to the fifteenth day, one will see the Buddha sitting on a lotus flower. At the three times of day and three times of night, make offerings with fine fragrant flowers, and one will definitely see the Tathāgata seated on a lotus throne preaching the Dharma, attain dhāraṇī, attain mindfulness and wisdom, have firm mental awareness, and attain knowledge of past lives up to parinirvāṇa. All sūtras and all crafts and undertakings—one will be able to fully comprehend all such things. One will attain a pure mind, [transcending all] except the four noble truths. Why is this? This Dharma can encompass all that is with outflows. As for those who uphold, read, and recite this dhāraṇī, wherever they are born they will never fall into the wretched destinies and will always encounter buddhas. In life after life they will always be fully endowed with the seven treasures and will not be born lowly. In life after life they will encounter buddhas and bodhisattvas; in life after life they will never forget the mind of bodhi; roaming through the worlds of the ten directions, they will always see the Buddhas, the World-Honoured Ones, and will always obtain what they wish.
7.31
Dhāraṇī of the Banner and Canopy Vow, Spoken by Akṣayamati Bodhisattva
7.33
Bodhisattva Akṣayamati, before the Buddha amidst the great assembly of bodhisattvas, proclaimed this Great Dhāraṇī of the Canopy Vow: 'If there are sentient beings who can copy, accept, and uphold this dhāraṇī with a sincere mind, constantly cultivate samādhi for seven days and seven nights, and recite this dhāraṇī a hundred thousand times according to the ritual, they will attain great merit, great radiance, and great power, cross over to the other shore, become fully endowed with extensive learning, wisdom, and eloquence, become fully endowed with all the precepts of the Tathāgatas, the World-Honored Ones, and accomplish all great merits. From heavenly kings and earthly kings down to brāhmaṇas and householders, all sentient beings who see them will rejoice and give rise to faith and reverence; further, all necessary provisions will be obtained in accordance with their wishes. They will be protected by all buddhas, meet together with all buddhas in their places of rebirth, and be able to cause all sentient beings to open the eye of wisdom and see all wondrous Dharmas.'
7.34
Dhāraṇī for Overcoming Enemies and Making Them Safely Retreat, and for Treating Poisonous Bites and Swellings
7.36
As for this dhāraṇī, if a king raises an army, mobilizes the multitude, and attacks an enemy, wishing certainly to achieve victory, when he is about to enter the enemy lines, he should empower earth by chanting the mantra over it three times and smear it on his body, as well as smear it on the banners, standards, flags, canopies, drums, horns, musical instruments, and weapons of war; wherever he directs them, he will certainly be victorious, causing that enemy host to retreat safely without any harm. If one is bitten by poisonous insects, afflicted by poison, or has swellings on the body, chant the mantra over it, mix [earth] with clear indigo and apply it, and all will be eliminated and cured.
7.37
Auspicious Dhāraṇī-Mantra
7.38
Namo Avalokiteśvara, who can bestow the power of fearlessness, / possessing all harmonious and gentle voices, the voice of the valiant lion, / the pure voice of Mahābrahmā, and the wondrous Dharma-voice of great compassion. / Great hero among devas and humans, capable of giving joy to sentient beings, / extinguishing the drives of ignorance and ferrying across the ocean of birth and death. / We now take refuge in such great spiritual power.

The Buddha Spoke the Great Dhāraṇī of the Seven Jewels
7.46
Thus have I heard:
7.47
At one time the Buddha was at the Jetavana monastery in Anāthapiṇḍada's park. The Buddha addressed Ānanda: 'Accept and uphold this Great Seven Jewels dhāraṇī-mantra.' Then the World-Honored One spoke it at once:
7.49
'Ānanda! If anyone accepts, upholds, reads, recites, and practices this dhāraṇī-mantra to the end of their physical life, all enemies will be made to rejoice, fire cannot burn them, blades cannot wound them, water cannot drown them, and they will not be possessed by demonic spirits of sorcery, whether devas, nāgas, asuras, gandharvas, or human and non-human beings. Ānanda! As for this Seven Jewels mantra, if one enters into water or fire, falls among hostile bandits, ingests poison, or encounters the poisons of sorcery, one should be mindful of this mantra. If one experiences terror, goosebumps, and the like, one will attain complete liberation from all of them. Through the majesty of Vipaśyin Buddha, the spiritual power of Śikhin, the wisdom of Viśvabhū, the power of Krakucchanda Buddha, the precepts of Kanakamuni, the merit of Kāśyapa, and the vigor of Śākyamuni, let all fear be eradicated from all sentient beings, and cause them to attain peace and good fortune.' At that time, Ānanda, having heard what the Buddha said, rejoiced and practiced it with reverence.
7.50
The Buddha Spoke the Great Samantabhadra Dhāraṇī
7.51
Thus have I heard:
7.52
At one time the Buddha was in the country of Śrāvastī, at the Jetavana in Anāthapiṇḍada's park. At that time, the Buddha addressed Ānanda: 'I now speak the Great Samantabhadra mantra; you should accept and uphold it.'
7.54
'Ānanda! This Great Samantabhadra mantra blocks and extinguishes all military weapons, eradicates all enemies and animosities, removes all fears of yakṣas, rākṣasas, bhūtas, and the like, and removes all hot illnesses, illnesses caused by ghosts and spirits, sorcery, insect poisons, and sorcerous spells; vetālas, pūtanas, and the like will all be unable to violate this Samantabhadra mantra, which can effect all goodness and auspiciousness. Wherever good sons or good daughters may go, whether traveling on roads, traveling by waterways, or in urgent distress, they should be mindful of this mantra; there will be no fear of yakṣas, bhūtas, piśācas, kumbhāṇḍas, kaṭapūtanas, rākṣasas, vetālas, and the like, nor will there be any such fears as water, fire, blades, clubs, disasters of war, poisonous drugs, decay, harms, sorcerous arts, or all evil human and non-human beings. Ānanda! If there is terror or urgent distress, one should recite and be mindful of this mantra, and none will be able to cause harm or affliction. Furthermore, Ānanda, if anyone accepts, upholds, reads, and recites this mantra, the devas, nāgas, ghosts, and spirits mentioned above, the twenty-eight divisions, human and non-human beings, and so forth cannot transgress against this mantra; iron wheels and vajra-wheels will inflict afflictions upon them, causing their heads to split into seven pieces. If there is anyone in the four cardinal directions, four intermediate directions, above, or below who gives rise to an evil mind toward this person, their poisonous mind will be completely bound so that it does not arise. These good sons and good daughters should skillfully read, recite, uphold, and practice it.'

These wangliang spectres of the world are not even as good as sacrificing to dogs for guard and watch.
