1.89

復有五事：一者當為師取賓揵澡槃出淨洗，著水持還。二者當拂拭床席次襞被枕。三者當為師襞袈裟著常處。四者自却住，師教坐不得便坐，師三言坐乃應坐。若問：「卿經利不？」若不教誦不應便誦。五者若自問經戒，視時可問不應問。

There are another five matters: first, bring the *piṅgana* washing basin for the master, go out and wash it clean, fill it with water, and bring it back. Second, dust and wipe the bed and mat, and then fold the quilt and pillow. Third, fold the kāṣāya for the master and place it in its usual spot. Fourth, step back and stand; if the master tells you to sit, do not sit down at once; only after the master says to sit three times should you sit. If he asks, "Are you fluent in your sūtras?", do not immediately recite unless he instructs you to recite. Fifth, if you yourself wish to ask about sūtras or precepts, observe whether the time is suitable; if not, do not ask.
