比丘欲起沙彌法有五事：一者當知四阿含、二者當知戒、三者當知經、四者當知有慧、五者當有德。

For a bhikṣu wishing to raise a śrāmaṇera, the rule entails five matters: First, he should know the four Āgamas. Second, he should know the precepts. Third, he should know the sūtras. Fourth, he should possess wisdom. Fifth, he should possess virtue.
