May the gathered assembly listen with forbearance! Now the bhikṣus measure the four quarters, for all auspicious omens and for bestowing remaining karmic fruits. When the saṅgha gathers, all are in harmonious forbearance; thereupon with one voice they concentrate on the prohibitive precepts, practicing equanimity and purely guarding all disciplines. Now, for the sīmābandha, may you all listen with forbearance to these teachings, and together with measuring the four quarters, pronounce the prohibitive precepts and bind the vihāra boundary. If you are able, all remain silent; if you cannot forbear, then speak of its unsuitability. The saṅgha gathers to concentrate together on the equanimous sīmābandha, having already spoken the prohibitive precepts. The saṅgha approves of it, so remain silent and uphold it.
