1.32

問：「比丘度人，不問本末度。後知是佛奴，而不發遣。犯何事？」答：「知是而度，犯重。若先不知，知便發遣。若不發遣，亦犯重。」問：「其人是大道人不？」答曰：「非。」

It was asked, "If a bhikṣu ordains someone without inquiring into his background, and later learns that he is a Buddha slave but does not dismiss him, what offence is committed?" It was answered, "If he ordains him knowing it, it is a grave offence. If he did not know previously, as soon as he knows he must dismiss him. If he does not dismiss him, it is also a grave offence." It was asked, "Is that person a great renunciant?" It was answered, "He is not."
